Anne Dudley Bradstreet was the first woman poet to be published in the American colonies (1650)
and the only author in the colonies to publish a substantial collection of poems
in the seventeenth century.
Her father,
Thomas Dudley, ¤
and her husband,
Simon Bradstreet, ¤
were both governors of Massachusetts Bay Colony several times.
