Habichtsburg, Habsburg, Hapsburg German noble, later royal, house that supplied rulers to Austria, Germany, the HRE,
Hungary and Bohemia, Spain, and other states.
The house took its name from the castle of Habsburg, or Habichtsburg,
i.e.Hawk's Castle, on the Aar River in present Switzerland,
built by Werner, bishop of Strasbourg, and his brother Count Radbot.
