Founder of the giant American breakfast cereal empire, "Kellogg's of Battle Creek", he was for many years earlier in the shadow of his eccentric and flamboyant elder brother, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg.
In the early days, he actually personally signed each box of cereal
so his customers could be sure they were getting the genuine
article and not one his many imitators.

1878 | Takes a position with his elder brother, the flamboyant Dr. John H. Kellogg, in the Battle Creek Sanitarium |
1890s | The brothers experiment with whole grain breakfast foods, finally hitting on a rolled and toasted wheat mash product, which they begin to sell by mail order |
1900 | Growing mail order business becomes the Sanitas Food Company |
1900s | Will continues to experiment and develops a rolled and toasted corn flake product |
1906 | Will organizes the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flakes Company; Kellogg's Corn Flakes available to the general public |
1907 | Introduction of Kellogg's Toasted Corn Flakes |
1909 | Very first cereal premium offered: The Funny Jungleland Moving Pictures Booklet available with the purchase of 2 packages. The offer was available for twenty-three years! |
1925 | Renamed his company the W.K. Kellogg Company |
1929 | Uses his now huge fortune to endow the W. K. Kellogg Foundation as one of the country's foremost philanthropic institutions |
1930 | W.K. Kellogg Child Welfare Foundation established |
