He served in Company F, 38th Wisconsin Infantry. He died on 15 May 1918 in Grantsburg, Burnett County, Wisconsin. He died of a brain embolism and dropsy. He was buried in Benson Cemetery, Anderson Township, Burnett County, Wisconsin. The cemetery is on West River Road near Randall.
