He served in the military on 2 May 1864 in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio.(2131) He served 100 days under Capt. M. R. Trace.; fought in the battle of Maryland Heights and in two very severe skirmishes in the Shenandoah Valley, and was with his regiment in all its marches and engagements until his honorable discharge at Zanesville, September 8, 1864. He moved to Morrow County, Ohio, in the spring in 1865. (2132) He moved to Van Wert County, Ohio, in the spring in 1868.(2133) He appeared on the census in 1880 in Tully Township, Van Vert County, Ohio. He was buried in Van Wert, Ohio.(2134) He was a brother of Jonathan and Israel Bell. He may also have had children named Addison and Lurinda. Mary Catherine Geyer and James H.
