Michael Cline was born on 17 Feb 1812 in Muskingum County, Ohio.⁽¹²³⁴⁾⁽¹²³⁵⁾ He was born in Zanesville per the death record of his son William Washington Cline in Blackford County, Indiana. He moved to Blackford County, Indiana in 1834 in Blackford County, Indiana.⁽¹²³⁶⁾ Their first home in Indiana was a log cabin located on eight acres five miles south and one mile west of Hartford City, Indiana.
He appeared on the census on 11 Aug 1850 in Licking Township, Blackford County, Indiana. He was licensed to teach school in Licking Township in 1855 in Blackford County, Indiana.⁽¹²³⁷⁾ He died on 7 Oct 1878.⁽⁵⁸⁷⁾ Michael served an apprenticeship of three years, learning the potter's trade, near Zanesville, Ohio. In Hartford, Indiana, he engaged in the manufacture of drain tile. Elizabeth Geyer and Michael Cline had the following children:
