"Bernard R. Geyer, 82, of Downey, Calif., former Muskingum County resident, died Wednesday (May 6) at his home ending a long illness.
Mr. Geyer was a retired rural letter carrier in the Norwich and New Concord areas and left Muskingum County about 15 years ago.
He was a member of Malta Masonic Lodge at Norwich and New Concord United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mae; a son, Lester of Downey; a brother Howard of Pittsburgh and a nephew and niece.
Also surviving are one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
The body is a White's Funeral Home at Bellflower, Calif. where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday [8 May 1970]. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery there."
He died 15 May 1970 per the social security death index.
He was buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California. (3323)

He was married to Bertha Mae Derry (daughter of Eli H. Derry and Mary Achauer) on 12 Apr 1910. Bertha Mae Derry was born on 1 Jun 1890 in Sonora, Muskingum County, Ohio.(795) She appeared on the census on 16 Apr 1910 in home of spouse. She appeared on the census in 1920 in home of spouse. She resided in Dec 1986 in Ingram, Kerr County, Texas. (795) She died on 30 Dec 1986 in Kerrville, Texas. (3324) Her obituary reads as follows:
"Kerrville, Texas--Bertha Mae Derry Geyer, 96, of 1206 Jackson Road, Kerrville, Texas, a former Zanesville resident, died Dec. 30, 1986, at her home.
Mrs. Geyer was a member of the Laura Chapter OES 264 for more than 50 years and a past worthy matron of the chapter. She was also a member of Rosa Shrine 8 and the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Zanesville. Mrs. Geyer was a member of the Downey United Methodist Church in Downey, Calf.
She was born June 1, 1890, in Muskingum County, a daughter of Eli H. and Mary Achauer Derry.
Surviving are one son, with whom she lived, Lester Robert Geyer of Kerrville, Texas; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W.B. Oliver of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan 2, at the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calf. with the Rev. Helborn and Pastor McReynolds officiating."
