117. Daniel Geyer was born on 22 Apr 1780 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He is listed in his father's will. on 9 Nov 1801. He transferred land to Isaac Shepler on 17 Apr 1810 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.(585) [Note: this transcript is taken from a photocopy made from a deed book in Westmoreland County Courthouse. This book appears to be a second generation copy. There are numerous copying and spelling errors which have been corrected or modernized.]

Deed. Daniel Gyer & Wife to Isaac Shepler

This indenture made this seventeenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & ten between Daniel Gyer & Susanah his wife of Rostraver Township in the County of Westmoreland and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania yeoman of the one part & Isaac Shepler of Westmoreland County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Daniel Gyer & Susanah his wife for & in consideration of the sum of six hundred & eighty six dollars & forty cents to them in hand paid by the said Isaac Shepler the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained & sold aliened enfeoffed released & confirmed unto the said Isaac Shipler his heirs executors & administrators & assign all that lot & piece or parcel of ground situate on the dividing Ridge between the Youghiogheny & Monongahela River in the township & county aforesaid it being a part of the same tract of land for which a patent or confirmation was granted unto Casper Gyer the twenty third day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty seven enroled in the Roles Office for the State of Pennsylvania (page 125) in Patent Book no 11 beginning at a post the corner of Joseph Gyer & running by land of Stephen Hill South twenty five degrees East ninety five perches to a post thence by land of Casper Gyer & running with the same South eighty six degrees East eighty nine perches & five tenths to a post to a corner of Georg Gyers land running with the same North twenty five degrees West ninety seven perches to a post to a corner of Andrew Gyers thence by land of Jos Gyer North eighty six degrees West eighty nine perches & five tenths to the place of beginning containing fifty three acres & one hundred & twelve perches exact measure together with all & singular the rights members privileges liberties hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging & the reversions & remainders rents & issues profits thereof unto the said Isaac Shepler his heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behoof of the said Isaac Shepler his heirs & assigns forever & the said Daniel Gyer & Susanah his wife & their heirs the said granted premises & every part & parcel thereof unto him the said Isaac Shepler his heirs & assigns shall warrant guarantee & forever defend against all persons claiming or to claim & against all persons lawfully claiming the same. In witness whereof the parties have set their hand & seal the 17th of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & ten.

Females: 26-45 (1-Susannah); 10-16 (2-Catherine, Elizabeth); to 10 (1-Margaret). He appeared on the census in 1830 in Union Township, Muskingum County, Ohio. 1830 census:
Males: 50-60 (1-Daniel); 20-30 (1-?); 10-15 (2-?, ?)
Females: 50-60 (Susannah); 20-30 (1-?); 15-20 (1-?); 5-10 (1-?). He moved to Blackford County, Indiana in 1833 or 1834. He transferred land to Matthew Cherry on 5 Dec 1833 in Muskingum County, Ohio. (586) Entered for record Jany 29th 1834. Recorded Jany 30th 1834. Daniel Gyer to Mathew Cherry,

Know all men by these presents, That I Daniel Gyer and Susana Gyer his wife of the County of Muskingum & State of Ohio for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen Hundred dollars lawfull money of the State of Ohio to us in hand paid by Mathew Cherry of the County aforesaid. The receipt whereof we do hereby acknoladge [acknowledge] and are therewith contented and satisfied have given granted, bargained and sold aliened and conveyed and by these presents ?defreely? and fully and absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell, aline [alien] convey and confirm unto the said Mathew Cherry his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated in the Township of Union & County aforesaid being the Northwest quarter of Section number three in township number one of the fifth range of unappropriated lands in the military district of the lands directed to be sold at Zanesville containing one hundred and seventy eight acres more or less except eight acres off the sourth west corner deeded by me Daniel Gyer to Lenord Clyne will leve [leave?] one hundred & seventy acres more or less, to have and to hold the said granted premises with all the appurtenances and priviledges and commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Mathew Cherry his heirs and assigns forever, to his own proper use benefit and behoof forever as a good perfect and absolute estate in fee simple and the said Daniel Gyer for myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns do covenant with Mathew Cherry his heirs executors administrators and assigns that before and until the sealing and delivery of these presents I was lawfully seized in fee of the above granted and bargained premises and appurtenances. That I have good right full power and lawfull authority in me to sell and convey to the said Mathew Cherry and the said premises are free from all ?forms? gifts grants or other incumbrances whatsoever and that I do and will warrant and secure and defend the same to him the said Mathew Cherry his heirs and assi[g]ns forever against the lawful claims and demands of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In Witness ------ give hereunto set our hands and seals this fifth day of December AD 1833.

I John Wylie an acting Justice of the peace with and for said County, do hereby certify that on this fifth day of Decemer Eighteen Hundred and Thirty Three before me -------- -appeared Dannel Gyer and ackno[w]ledged the signing and sealing thereof to be his voluntary act and deed. At the same time appeared Susana his wife and the said Susana being reviewed by me saparate and apart from her said husband and the contents of said deed having been by me made known to her the said Susana upon such saparate examination did declare that she did voluntarily sign seal and acknowledge the said deed and that she is still satisfied therewith. Given under my hand officially on the day aforesaid.

Be it remembered that on the 31st day of January 1863 John Beath filed the last Will and testament and Codicil thereto of Daniel Geyer Deceased and reads in the words and figures following to wit

I Daniel Geyer of Blackford County and State of Indiana do make and publish this my last Will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

First I direct all my Real Estate to be divided between my four Sons equally Share and Share for which I have made deeds of gift to my three oldest sons namely Michael, Jacob and Casper and I now bequeath the piece I now occupy and live on at my death to Abel my youngest Son in fee simple, so that neither of the other Children or heirs can in any way whatever hold or claim any Share in any way to themselves or their heirs. I make and publish this to Show that I have portioned off all my heirs in such a way that this tract of land aforesaid is to fall to Abel my youngest Son to make him equal with the rest in Witness whereof I Daniel Geyer the Testator have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this 17th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty two

Codicil to Will
Whereas I Daniel Geyer of Blackford County and the State of Indiana having made and duly executed my last Will and Testament in writing bearing date the 17th day of March in the year of our Lord 1842. Now I the said Daniel Geyer being desirous of altering my said Will in respect to the legacies or land therein bequeathed to my son Abel, do therefore make this my present writing which I will and direct to be annexed as a codicil to the said Will and taken as a part thereof. First I direct that my body be decently interred and that my funeral be conducted in a manner Corresponding with my Estate and Situation in life, and as to such worldly Estate as it has pleased God to intrust me with. I dispose of the same as follows to wit: The land bequeathed to my Sons Michael, Jacob and Casper in my former Will is to be in full of their and each of their shares both of Real and personal Estate. And I do hereby revoke the Legacies by my said Will given to my Son Abel. I also direct that the whole of my personal property and the home farm shall be and remain the absolute property of my beloved wife if she shall be living at the time of my decease. But if She Shall not Survive me then my personal property is to be divided equally among my Sons and daughters share and share alike after the death of myself and said wife. I direct that the home farm be sold to the best advantage and for the best price can be had. I also direct and I hereby give to my Son Abel out of the proceeds of the home farm two hundred and fifty dollars. I also give and bequeath to Catharine my oldest daughter one hundred dollars. Also I bequeath to my daughter Elisabeth one hundred dollars. I also bequeath to my daughter Margaret one hundred dollars and I also direct and bequeath to my daughter Hannah two hundred dollars. And then I direct that the overpluss if any Shall be divided equally among my Sons and daughters, and to ef___tuate this my intention I hereby ____ my Executor with full power and authority to dispose of my real Estate in fee simple or other wise ___ as full and simple a manner in every respect as I myself could if living. And I hereby make and ordain my worthy and esteemed friend John Beath Executor of this My last Will and Testament. And I hereby notify and conform my said Will in every thing except where the same is hereby revoked and altered as afore said. In witness whereof I Daniel [last line not readable]

Gadberry who were duly Sworn and upon oath say they are the Subscribing witnesses of the last Will and Testament and Codicil and Codicil to the Will of Daniel geyer late of Blackford County Indiana deceased (the said John Beath being Witness to the Will and the said Samuel L. Gadberry Witness to the Codicil) and that said testator was of full age to devise his property and that he was of sound mind and memory and not under Coertion or restraint that he said it was his Will and that we signed the Will in his presence and at his request.

He was married to Susannah Darr (daughter of Michael Darr and Catharina ---) about 1800 in Pennsylvania. Susannah Darr was born on 13 Sep 1779 in (Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania). Her birth date was calculated from information on her headstone. She appeared on the census on 11 Aug 1850 in home of spouse. She died on 4 Oct 1855 in Delaware County, Indiana.(66) She was buried in Elizabethtown Cemetery, Wheeling, Delaware County, Indiana. (66) She has Ancestral File number 32RQ-ZM. (12) She is listed in her father's will. Daniel Geyer and Susannah Darr had the following children:
