He was married to Phebe Ashfield on 12 Jul 1800 in Berkeley County, Virginia. ⁽⁴⁸⁾ They were married by John Hutt/Rutt/Reitt. Benjamin Sheeley was suretor. Phebe Ashfield was born about 1791. Her birth date is estimated from information found in the 1850 census and in her application for bounty land for Samuel's service in the war of 1812. She died after Feb 1857. She appeared before Cyrus Little, Justice of the Peace in Greene County, for the affidavit re: bounty land application. Samuel Sheley and Phebe Ashfield had the following children:
