114. Joseph Geyer was born on 29 Jul 1766 in (Frederick County, Virginia).⁽⁵⁶¹⁾ JFG lists his birth year as 1767. His headstone information is consistent with this showing that he died aged 80 years. A notes in the Geyer family papers lists his death date as 20 Jul 1847 at the age of 80y 11m 22d. This yields a birth date of 29 Jul 1766. He is listed in his father's will in 1801 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He is listed in his father's will. on 9 Nov 1801. He moved to Muskingum County, Ohio in 1809.⁽⁵⁶²⁾ Per notes from Harry Reasoner Geyer, Joseph moved to Muskingum County, Ohio, in 1809 entering the Southeast quarter section of section 7 of Union township south of the village of Norwich. He brought his family from Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, by wagon and sent his family effects by water to Zanesville, Ohio. They spent their first night in this new country at Benjamin Reasoners. There being no house on their land, Henry Reasoner, who lived near them, allowed them to occupy an outbuilding until their cabin was built.

He appeared on the census in 1840 in Union Township, Muskingum County, Ohio. The household included 6 males: (1) 70-80, (1) 30-40, (1) 15-20, (1) 10-15 & (2) 5-10. It included 2 females: (1) 30-40 & 15-20. He died on 20 Jul 1847 in Muskingum County, Ohio. He died on his farm near Norwich, Ohio. He was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Highland Township, Muskingum County, Ohio.⁽⁵⁶³⁾⁽⁶⁶⁾ The legible portion of his headstone inscription reads "Died July 20, ____, age 80 yrs."

He was married to Elizabeth Darr (daughter of Michael Darr and Catharina ---) before 1795. Elizabeth Darr was born in 1772. Her birth date was estimated from information on her headstone. Harry Reasoner Geyer listed her birth date as 1771 based on death age of 73 years instead of 73rd year. She died on 3 Sep 1844 in Muskingum County, Ohio. She died in her 73rd year. She was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Highland Township, Muskingum County, Ohio.⁽⁵⁶⁴⁾ She is listed in her father's will in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Joseph Geyer and Elizabeth Darr had the following children:
