As reported in the 10 Mar 1881 issue of the New Concord Enterprise, J. B. Rankin was employed for the coming Summer Term at the Union School [Bloomfield, Ohio]. The 28 April 1881 New Concord Enterprise reported that J. B. Rankin was a primary instructor. Per the 19 May 1881 issue, Bloomfield entertainment in the college hall included "Minnehaha" delivered by J. B. Rankin.... Another dialogue "The Bobtown School" was delivered by J. B. Rankin, teacher. According to the 7 July 1881 New Concord Enterprise, the primary department of Bloomfield Union school closed 28 Jun with exams. J. B. Rankin had control the last 4 terms. His labors will be missed.
