W. S. Branum, 74, Dies At Home
Illness Proves Fatal To Owens Cross Roads Man
An illness of more than five years proved fatal
to Walter Scott BRANUM, 74, prominent farmer of Owens Cross Roads, who died at
his home at 2 o’clock yesterday morning.
Mr. Branum suffered a stoke of paralysis five
years ago and for the past two years had been confined most of the time to his
bed.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Della
Grayson BRANUM; two daughters, Mrs. Herman MAPLES and Mrs. George CRAFT, both
of Owens Cross Roads; four sons, Ed BRANUM of Monte Sano Mountain, Ollie Lee
BRANUM, Wilbourn BRANUM and Roy BRANUM, all of Owens Cross Roads; one brother,
the Rev. H. S. BRANUM of Owens Cross Roads; two sisters, Mrs. T. M. SOLOMON and
Mrs. Will RICH, both of Owens Cross Roads.
Funeral services will be conducted from Oak
Bowery Church at 11 o’clock this morning with the Rev. Roy STONE
officiating. Interment will follow in
Moon Cemetery with Laughlin-McCaleb in charge of arrangements.
These friends of the family will serve as
active pallbearers, Robert BAKER, Robert LUSK, A. J. BESHEARS, W. E. SELF, T.
S. BRAZELTON and W. D. STEPHENS.

Della Brannum's Rites Conducted
Mrs. Della Union Grayson BRANUM, 80, died at 2 o'clock at her residence in Buggs Chapel Friday afternoon.
Service were held at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Oak Bowery Church at Buggs Chapel, with Rev. L. T. RICHIE and Roy STONE in charge.
She was the widow of the late Walter S. BRANUM and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Herman MAPLES and Mrs. George CRAFT of Owens Cross Roads. Four sons surviving Mrs. BRANUM are Ed BRANUM, Ollie BRANUM, Lee BRANUM, Wilbourn BRANUM and Roy BRANUM, all of Buggs Chapel.
Pallbearers were W. W. CARPENTER, M. A. HUGHES, J. W. DUNCAN, M. W. POWERS, Charlie CARGILE, and F. B. WOOD.
Honorary pallbearers were C. H. ESSLINGER, R. E. HUNT, Howard LEMLEY, Dr. J. L. CARPENTER, W. D. STEVENS, R. D. RIVERS, W. E. SELF, J. A. BRAZELTON, J. T. GROOMES, W. T. McDONALD, and R. E. TUCK.
Butler Brothers funeral home of New Hope were in charge of burial.
