Rites Are Held For Burned Tot

Cobb Child Fatally Injured As Kerosene Explodes From Blaze

 

James Gordon COBB, four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney COBB of Owens Cross Roads, who was fatally burned yesterday afternoon.

 

Funeral rites were conducted from the residence at 3 o’clock by the Rev. Roy STONE.  Interment was in Moon Cemetery, with Butler Brothers of New Hope directing.

 

The child was burned when a can of kerosene, being used by his father in building a fire in a stove, exploded.  The flaming liquid not only covered the youngster, inflicting horrible burns, from which he died in the Huntsville Hospital at 8 o’clock Friday night, but also burned both parents.

 

The mother was still confined to the hospital last night, but Mr. Cobb was able to be dismissed.

 

Besides his parents, the child is survived by one brother, Marvin COBB, at home; four sisters, Lena Mae COBB, Marie COBB, Betty COBB and Doris COBB, also at home; the grandparents, Mrs. H. B. ESSLINGER of New Hope, and Mr. and Mrs. John COBB of Owens Cross Roads community.
