Rites For Mrs. Cowan Are Conducted Today

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. COWAN, 77, widow of A. B. COWAN, who died yesterday at the home of her son, Duke COWAN, Route 2, Huntsville, were conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Cave Springs Church.

 

The Rev. H. S. BRANNUM officiating.  The burial in Moon Cemetery was directed by Butler Brothers of New Hope.

 

The deceased, a native of Madison Cross Roads, is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bertie GLOVER, Flintville Tenn.; eight sons, John Will COWAN, New Market; Harry COWAN, E. W. COWAN, Jess COWAN, Gordon COWAN, Jim Allen COWAN and Joe COWAN all of Owens Cross Roads, and Duke COWAN, Route 2, Huntsville, and a number of grandchildren.

Rites Are Held For Ben Cowan

Owens Cross Roads Resident Buried In Moon Cemetery

 

Funeral services for Andrew Ben COWAN 74, who died at his home, Owens Cross Roads, Route 1, yesterday afternoon, were held today.

 

Services were conducted from the residence at 3 p.m., the Rev. Roy STONE officiating.  Interment followed in Moon cemetery with Butler Brothers of New Hope in charge of the arrangements.

 

Grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers.  Mr. Cowan, who had resided in Owens Cross Roads community 33 years, suffered a stoke 11 years ago and had been a semi-invalid since that time.  He was taken seriously ill yesterday morning.

 

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Honea COWAN, eight sons, Joe COWAN, Harry COWAN, Gordon COWAN, James COWAN and Jess COWAN, all of Owens Cross Roads; Will COWAN of New Market; Duke COWAN of Huntsville and Edward COWAN of New Hope; one daughter, Mrs. Bertie GLOVER, Owens Cross Roads and a sister, Mrs. Cassie MAPLES, also of Owens Cross Roads. He leaves a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
