OWENS CROSS ROADS – A funeral for Murphy A. HUGHES, 58, of Rt. 1, Owens Cross Roads, who died Saturday at a Huntsville hospital, will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Galilee Baptist Church, the Rev. Roland LEE and the Rev. John JENNE officiating.

 

Burial will be in Moon Cemetery, Laughlin-Service Funeral Home directing.

 

Mr. Hughes was a veteran of World War II, a retired employee of the Tennessee Valley Authority, a member of the Civitan Club and clerk of the Galilee Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ira Maples HUGHES; a daughter, Miss Nan HUGHES of Owens Cross Roads; a mother, Mrs. Nannie B. LOFTIS of Birmingham; four sisters, Mrs. Melvin CANOLES, Mrs. Lillian ALDRIDGE, Mrs. Eudora SMITH and Mrs. Lola RIDGEWAY, all of Birmingham.

OWENS CROSS ROADS – Ira Maples HUGHES, 78, of Owens Cross Roads died Monday at a local hospital.  The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael CARPENTER officiating.  Burial will be in Moon Cemetery.  Mrs. HUGHES was a native of Owens Cross Roads and a member of the Galilee Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include one daughter, Nan HUGHES of Marietta, Ga.; and one sister, Magnolia WOODARD of Tullahoma, Tenn.  Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
