Illness Is Fatal To Lensy Buford

Became Sick In Fiji Islands While Serving With U. S. Army Force

 

Lensy L. BUFORD, 26, died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. BUFORD, Owens Cross Roads, yesterday morning, after an illness of several months.

 

Services will be held at the home, with the Rev. Mr. MANDERSON and the Rev. Mr. STEADMAN officiating, and the time will be announced as soon as word is received from a brother in the Army.

 

The deceased was formerly a member of the Quartermaster Corps of the Army, and served in New Zealand, and later in the Fiji Islands where he became ill.  He enlisted in the Army Jan. 21, 1941 and received his medical discharge Jan 25, 1943.

 

He was returned from the Fiji Islands to the general hospital in San Francisco, and later to the government hospital at Outwood, Ky., before returning home last week.

 

Surviving besides his parents are three brothers, Marvin BUFORD, U. S. Army; Harry BUFORD, serving in the Army overseas; and Charles BUFORD, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Allen MOON, Owens Cross Roads; Mrs. Earl GLASS, Mobile; Mrs. Fred CHANDLER, Huntsville; Mrs. Emmett POWERS, at home, several aunts and uncles.

 

Active pallbearers will include Emmett POWERS, Fred CHANDLER, Allen MOON, Earl GLASS, Milas BUFORD Jr., and Earl BUFORD.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Merle POWERS, Claiborne WALLS, J. W. CUSHING, Richard BRANUM, John MOON, Dr. James L. CARPENTER, Mose CRAFT, Finas CRAFT, and Roy HEREFORD.
