William Luther Baker

 

ATHENS, Ala. – A funeral for William Luther BAKER, 76, Rt. 2, Gurley, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Galilee Baptist Church, Rev. Roy STONE officiating.  Burial will be in Moon Cemetery, Spry Funeral Home directing.

 

Mr. Baker, a retired farmer and veteran of World War I, died Saturday morning at Huntsville Hospital after a long illness.

 

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Cornelia BAKER; two daughters, Mrs. Willy Mae ACCORDA, Mrs. Eva Gay VICKNAIR; a son, Cleaons BAKER, all of New Orleans; six sisters, Mrs. Minnie MOON of Huntsville, Mrs. Della RILEY of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Fannie PARKER of New Market, Mrs. Alice GAINES of Gurley, Mrs. Viola PARKS of Ethel, Miss., Mrs. Mattie Sue BARNETT of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Connie BAKER of Farley, Tommy BAKER of Maysville; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

 

Active pallbearers will be Vincent ARCARDO, Jean VICKNAIR, Donald McCARROLL, Albert SHARPE, A. C. SHARPE Jr., Jimmy Ray SHARPE.

 

Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.  The body will remain at Spry Funeral Home until time for service.
