Robert H. Baker Taken By Death

Long Illness Is Fatal To Resident Of Owens Cross Roads This A.M.

 

Robert Houston (Bob) BAKER, 58, died at his home in the Owens Cross Roads community this morning at 2:30 o’clock, after a long illness.  He had been in failing health about a year, and had been unable to be present at the funeral of his father, A. T. BAKER, who died last May 18.

 

Funeral services will be held at the residence Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, and rites are to be conducted by the Revs. H. M. HUDSON, of Pell City, H. M. BRANUM and M. MANDERSON.  Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery with Laughlin-Service directing.

 

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Daisy M. BAKER; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred CHILDERS, Huntsville, and Mrs. Louise MORRISON, of Biloxi, Miss.; one son, Robert H. BAKER Jr., of the Army, stationed at Fort Knox, Ky.; three sisters, Miss Grace BAKER of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Richard BRANNUM of Owens Cross Roads, and Mrs. N. B. HALL, of Chattanooga; two brothers, W. G. BAKER, of Huntsville, and Gordon BAKER, of Miami, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

 

Active pallbearers at the funeral will be L. K. KENNEDY, Charles HINDMAN, E. B. BAKER, W. W. MAPLES, C. O. BAKER, Billy HAMER, Wilson MANN and Jesse WALLS.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Judge S. H. RICHARDSON, Dr. J. E. WHITAKER, Dr. J. L. CARPENTER, Robert MURPHREE, Ed HUMPHREY, George DARWIN, A. H. ELLETT, J. J. ELLETT, M. F. MAPLES, A. W. COBB, Moses CRAFT, Z. R. MAPLES, W. T. McDONALD, R. W. MOON, J. H. KENT, T. E. McKINNEY and Charles WILLIAMS.
