Walter Lee Bird

Walter Lee BIRD of Big Cove died Thursday. He was 90. Mr. Bird was a native of Madison County and was retired from Huntsville Manufacturing and was a farmer. He was a life long resident of Big Cove.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel BIRD of Big Cove; four sons, John BYRD, Sammy BYRD, Ronald BYRD and Kevin BIRD, all of Big Cove; five daughters, Lucille COWAN, Peggy KNIGHT, Phyllis SCHULTZ and Nancy MARTIN, all of Big Cove and Jane SIMMONS of Hazel Green; three brothers, Daniel BIRD of Albertville, Willard BYRD of Huntsville and Lester BYRD of Toney; two sisters, Rocine YOUNG of Huntsville and Estelle STONE of Big Cove; two step-sons, Edward DODSON and Ricky DODSON, both of Huntsville; two step-daughters, Vivian BROWNE of Sparta, N.J. and Selina BILLIONS of Hazel Green; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Big Cove Holiness Church with Bro. David JONES, Bro. Oakley DRAKE and Bro. Shannon BIRD officiating. Burial will be at Neal's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be at Big Cove Holiness Church beginning at 5 p.m. today.
