Claude A. Bird’s Rites Tomorrow


Funeral Services have been scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Neal’s Chapel in Big Cove for Claude A. Bird, 78, who died Monday at 1 p.m. at his home on Alpine avenue, West Huntsville. He had been ill for a long time.

Rev. Willis Brown, Rev. Will Guffey and Rev. Mitchell Drake will conduct the services. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Wilson funeral home of Fayetteville in charge.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Minnie Sims Bird; three daughters, Mrs. Maybell Walls, Mrs. Mamie Holland of Huntsville and Mrs. Pearly Cobb of Owens Cross Roads; five sons, Marshall , Richard and Floyd of Owens Cross Roads, and Herman and Paul of Huntsville; one sister, Mrs. Maude McPeters of Huntsville; two brothers, Joe Bird of Florida and Buford Bird of Owens Cross Roads; 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Paul Stone, Aubrey Burke, Elbert Kent, Joe Owens, Lige Holland and Alonzo Holland.

He was a member of the Holiness church in West Huntsville.
