'E' FLAG FLIES OVER OWENS-CORNING PLANT
Emblem Of War Production Efficiency Presented At Elaborate Ceremonies

The Army and Navy 'E' flag, emblem of excellence and efficiency in war production, today flies over the Owens-Corning Fiberglas corporation plant here, following presentation in elaborate ceremonies Friday afternoon in warehouse No. 5.
Presenting the emblems on behalf of the navy and army were Read Admiral Clark H. Wodward (sic) and Colonel Ernest A. Rudelius. Bringing greetings to the men and women workers at Owens-Corning was John W. Bricker, thrice-elected governor of Ohio.
To 2,500 employees of Owens-Corning in the Newark plant were presented sterling silver "E" label buttons for their loyal service.
The loyalty was indicated in their shouted acceptance of the challenge of Admiral Woodward to produce an even greater output of fibre glass for war use in the months to come.
In explaining the significance of the "E" flag, Admiral Woodward pointed out that it was for past achievement. For the future, he said, a star would be added in the flag for increased production at six-month periods.
