Israel Gilpin

Lived at the old homestead in Birmingham Twp., Pa. until after the Rev., and then removed to Boone Co., Ky.
Received pension in 1832 for service as Capt., Del. Melitia., and as Purchasing Commissary with rank as Col., Delaware Melitia.

The George Gilpin Perkins book, "Kentucky Gilpins" states that Israel Gilpin and his younger brother Joseph, after serving in the Rev. War troops, had then gone over the long and hazardous trail of
mountains and wilderness to Kentucky, where only sturdy and intelligent colonists were wanted or welcomed. It was at a period well within a decade of Daniel Boone's incursions into it's wilds.
The tax records indicate that they moved to Ky. in 1790-91. This was at a time when Israel was already 50 yrs. old and Joseph was about 43.
