Attorney John N. Piatt, 79, a prominent local lawyer before he moved to Miami in the mid-1930s, died yesterday in that city.
He was born in Pittsburgh on Jan. 14, 1874, the son of the late James W. Piatt and Mary Elizabeth Mclaughlin. He graduated from Kiski in 1891, and from Yale Law School in 1895. He received his Master's degree in Law the following year from Yale.
He was admitted to the Allegheny County Bar in 1896, and served as assistant district attorney under both Harry Goehring and William A. Blakeley.
He leaves two sons, William C. Piatt of Miami and James W. of Meadville; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Sommerfeld and Miss Betty Piatt of Miami; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Burial will be Wednesday in Miami.
