The Family Record, which is in the possession of Jody Dean Herrick, states that "James Henry Croxton, son of Thomas & Hannah Croxton, was born May 21st, 1855, at Ten Mile Prairie, Douglas Co., Oregon, U.S.A.", and "died at Grants Pass, Oregon, Oct. 2, 1918, aged 63 years, 4 months and 11 days."
James' obituary states that he died at his home at 1004 D Street, Grants Pass, and relates that he engaged in farming. " He was married to Emma Simmons December 21, 1882, and is survived by his wife, one son, Thos. Croxton of Grants Pass, and one daughter, Mrs. M. M. Murray of Klamath Falls. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. saturday, October 5, at Hall's chapel, with interment in the Granite Hill cemetery."
Jody Dean Herrick lists Emma's last name as Simmons.
