The 3 mencame up the Chisholm Trail from Texas to where it ended at the railroadin Abilene, with a herd of cattle. They liked the area and decided tostay, so they moved their families there also. James started the firstmeat market, Wayts Meat Market, in Abilene, Kansas in about 1871. Hiswife, Laura, was the local midwife. The two brothers-in-law were cattlebuyers.
