Thomas Chandler #89516, Enlisted: 1781, mustd Jan 82, Private - Served from Discharged near Camden, SC. Served 1780 to 1783. J. Laidley, an attorney, aided in his filing for a pension. He was awarded 8.00 per month. File R514. Pension commenced on 8 Jan 1828 at the age of 72. Info from H.J.'s files. Thomas arrived in Union Dst. 2, Wayne Co WV, 1806 in the 12 Pole area.

Thomas Chandler, per Chandler GEDCOM from Paul Lareau, enlisted as a private in the March preceding Gates' defeat (At Camden, SC, 16 Aug 1780), in the company of Capt. William Lyttle in the 10th Rgt, NC Continental Line, commanded by Col. Thaxton. He served until after the surrender of Cornwallis, and was discharged near Camden. He received a grant of land for his war service, and settled about 1806 near the site of the Wayne Co. Court House, Wayne Co., VA (WV). He filed for a pension on 22 Oct 1827 at Cabell Co., VA (WV).

He was age 65 in 1827, according to court records.
