Les was raisedon the family farm 4 miles from Webster Springs, WV and worked for his dad who was a carpentary forman for the Pardee Curtin Coal Company in Barton about 3 miles away. He joined the army and married Elva M. Riley of Richwood. During the war he moved his family to Akron, Ohio and worked for Goodyear Aircraft, after the war les moved back home and back to the mines, but the mines closed and he moved to Cortland, Ohio where he lived until his death. Les worked for republic steel as an electrician for 28 years. He retired in 1978. Leslie enjoyed gardening and playing pool in his basement, he also enjoyed going on trips throughout the country and especially visiting any place with steam trains.

Elva Mae Pat Riley

Pat was raised in Richwood, WV where she worked for the Clothes Pin Factory. She enjoyed roller skating where she met and later married Les. They took up housekeeping 4 miles outside of Webster Springs, WV and started raising their family. After the war she followed Les and moved to Cortland, Ohio about 10 miles out of Warren, Ohio. Pat was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers and playing cars with her friends. Pat suffered from arthritis which she had gotten from taking in laundry for other people when her and les were just starting out in life. She was eventually crippled and later died from this long suffering illness.
