Job Shenton

2 other children,; Joseph, born 1841 and Thomas, born 1843 are listed in the 1851 census at Mow Cop. In 1861 they are listed, together with their stepmother (Sophia) as being children of Job's brother John.

I assume that between 1851 & 1861 Job has died and his brother has married his widow and become stepfather to Job's children. Mary Shenton could be the daughter of either Job or John.

Thomas and Joseph are listed under John Shenton & Sophia Brereton, but it must be remembered that they are the children of Job Shenton & Mary Scott.

She attended the Clara Barton School in Bordentown, New Jersey. It is said that Clara Barton taught there at one time. Her first job was sitting in a department store window writing and reading leters for people who could not read and write. She was a milliner later on. Mary wasnever alone with Samuel White before she married him. When Mary married Samuel he and his Mother were well to do. He gambled away her fortune and lost several businesses she purchasd for him including a mens clothing store and movie theatre. By the time his mother died, there wasn't money for a tombstone. Mary had to save to be able to put a tombstone on her mother-in-law's grave. Samuel was unfaithful to Mary all their lives. He was very handsome and his mother helped arrrange dates for him.
