Raghnall mac Somhairle (Anglicisation: Ranald son of Somerled) (sometimes referred to as Reginald) (d.1207) was a son of Somerled and Ragnhildis, daughter of Olaf I of Man.[1] Raghnall succeeded his father, inheriting lands in Kintyre and Islay.[1]
In about 1180 Raghnall granted a charter to the monastery of Paisley.[1] In this charter he was styled Lord of the Isles. Raghnall was also styled King of the Isles and Lord of Argyll.[1]
Raghnall's seal is described as: "In the middle of the seal on one side a ship filled with men-at-arms; on the reverse side, the figure of an armed man on horseback with a drawn sword in his hand."[1]
Raghnall built the Saddell Abbey, and had granted to the monks the lands of Glensagadul and Balebean in Kintyre and Cesken in Arran.[1] His wife was possibly a daughter of the Earl of Moray.[2] Raghnall died in 1207.[1]
