Both Nathaniel and John received from their stepfather, William Knight in his will, 40 shillings each.

He became a freeman on 18 April 1691. His stepmother, Elizabeth Bread of Lynn, Essex, MA, left to her beloved son, Nathaniel Ballard that parcel of land bought by my first husband Wm Ballard, father of Nathaniel, 5 acres of upland. This was acknowledged by Elizabeth Bread in 1673/4. Nathaniel bought from his stepmother, Elizabeth, 3 acres of salt meadow, by a creek in the town marsh of Lynn in 1673. He bought 4 1/2 from Elizabeth Chadwell in Howse Neck. This bounded land already owned by Nathaniel.

+++++++++++++++++++++

Was born about 1636 in Lynn, Massachuesettss to William Ballard and his wife Elizabeth. Nathaniel's parents and older siblings, Hester and John came to America on the "James" in 1635 and settled in Lynn.

He was a tailor by trade and a landowner.

Married Rebecca Hudson in Lynn, Massachusetts on 16 Dec 1662. They had 3 sons and 7 daughters (Nathaniel, Nathaniel Jr., William, Mary, Rebecca, Susanna, Elizabeth, Esther, Sarah, Abigail).

Nathaniel and his brother John were remembered in their stepfather's will and received 40 shillings apiece.

3 Mar 1673/74 his mother gave him 5 acres of land that had originally belonged to his deceased father (William Ballard). And at that time he also bought for 9 pounds, 3 acres of salt meadow in the town marsh.

1675 Served in King Philip's War during the Wampanoag Fight under Captain Prentice.

1679 He bought 4 1/2 acres of land at House Neck from Elizabeth Chadwick.

1685 He was given land in Worcester Co. for service at Narragansett Fort.

18 Apr 1691 He was admitted as freeman to the colony (I think this date is late for him to be admitted and that this was probably one of his sons).

1692 The town of Lynn voted that "Rebecca Ballard and others should have the liberty of the hindmost seat in the gallery to sit in, and fit it up as well as they please, in the northeast corner, provided they do no damage in hindering the light of the window."

12 Jan 1722 Nathaniel died in Lynn. His wife Rebecca died 16 May 1724.7
