Daniel/2 Fogg was born 16 Jun 1660 at Hampton, NH.1 His father's will, 9 Jan 1671, leaves son Daniel Fogge £15, to be paid when he reaches 21.2 Orphaned at about the age of 12, he was living at Hampton on his own account 16 Dec 1678, and learned the trade of a blacksmith. He "soon after settled at Black Point, in Scarborough, Me., where it is supposed he married Hannah Libby, about 1684, and where he received several grants of land of the town. He left Scarborough at the breaking up of that settlement by the Indians, about 1690."1,3,4 "By their grson's acct. they had 4 ch. b. in Scarb., 5 in Portsmouth, 2 in Kit."1 Hannah Libby was living, 1730.1

Daniel Fogg was constable at Scarborough, 1688.1 "He then returned and settled in Portsmouth, N.H., as tradition says, on an island belonging to that town, in Piscataqua river."1,4,5 He removed circa 1700 to Kittery (now Eliot), ME, and settled "on a farm by him then purchased adjoining the river, between Frank's and Watt's forts, which is still [1884] in possession of his descendants."1,5

The will of Daniel Fogg, yeoman, of Kittery, dated 14 Jul 1747 and probated 7 Jul 1755, leaves his estate to son James Fogg, to be sole executor and to provide legacies as specified to his siblings, nieces and nephews in convenient time. Sons Daniel, John, Joseph and Seth, having already had gifts and lands, each received 2s 6p as their portion. Daughters Hannah Rogers, Rebecca Pilsbury, Sarah Hanscom and the children of my daughter Mary Brooks decd were provided for with bills of public credit. Signed by mark, the will was witnessed by Solomon and Ephraim Libby and Ioshua Staple.1,6

Daniel Fogg died 9 Jun 1755 at age 94.1,7,8 He was one of seven original members of the Congregational Church in Kittery at its organization, 22 Jun 1721.9
