On September 19, 1676, during King Philip's War, 150 colonial soldiers under Captain William Turner attacked Indian camps at Peskeompskut (Turner's Falls), Massachusetts. During the retreat from this important battle Capt. Turner and thirty-six of his men were killed by the Indians. Several weeks later a colonial scouting party discovered the fallen soldiers and buried them. The location is Nash's Mill, town of Greenfield. Only a general marker with only Turner mentioned by name.
