Came from Wendover, Buckinghamshire to Massachusetts Bay in 1635 on the Truelove. (On Sept. 19, 1635, "husbandman Ralph Tomkins," aged 50, uxor Kat[herine} Tomkins." aged 58, "Elizabeth Tomkins," aged 18, "Marie Tomkins," aged 14, & "Samuel Tomkins," aged 22, were enrolled at London as passengers for New England on the Truelove. They first settled at Dorchester MA & moved to Salem by 1642.
He was born about 1585, according to the passenger list. But on 12 Aug 1569, a "Raffe Tompkyns the son of John Tompkyns" was baptized at Edlesborough. If this is our passenger, then he is 7 yrs older (rather than 8 yrs younger) than his wife.
He married (1) 6 Nov 1608 in Wendover, Buckinghamshire, Katherine Foster, daughter of Peter Foster.
He married (2) by an unknown date, ____ ____. who was somehow a "sister" of Samuel Aburne.
He died by 12 Nov 1666 (date of inventory).
There is no proof who his father was.

SAMUEL: bp. Wendover, 1 Dec 1611; m. [Plymouth] 11 Oct 1639, Lettice Foster.
ELIZABETH: bp. Wendover, 5 Nov 1612. No record after 1635.
She died after 3 Apr 1642.
SARAH: bp Wendover, 19 Dec 1613; bur there, 28 Dec 1613.
MARY: bp. Wendover, 16 Mar 1616/7; possibly m. by abt 1647 John Foster.
Katherine was sister of Thomas Foster, whose widow married as his 2nd wife JONAS HUMPHREY {1637, Dorchester}. Three of the children of Thomas Foster came to New England.
