author's mothers paternal line of families are Pack, Chandler, Wheeler, Fairchild, LeMasters, Jayne, Layne, Milliam/Miller
are families who have settled in the SE Kentucky the counties of Floyd,
Lawrence, and Johnson . Hill people, or as great Aunt Trim Pack Slone
in 1950 said "we are Americans".
Two families of Pack cousins left SE KY close to 1900 and traveled to
"grass is greener" as in Paton, Greene County, Iowa.
Mother's maternal line, Wessling, Somers, Schuler, Plagge are
immigrants from Germany and Alse Lorraine area of Germany settling in
Chicago, IL and Warren Co., PA, traveling to Geneso, IL then to Paton,
Greene County, Iowa.
New: Added the
McSpadden Fairchild connection
Both the DeCourcy and the Pack
families settled in 1914 in Redwood County, MN near Walnut Grove. (Laurel
Ingalis Wilder books refer to Walnut Grove/Little House on the Prairie, TV
series) The Pack farm is still in the
family, is two miles on the same road straight east from the Ingalis farm)
My mother and her sisters used to play at both places when they were growing
up.

An index to the
Table of Contents of 'The
East Kentuckian'. by Clayton Cox, was created in 1985.. This index only includes the volumes dated March 1979
to 1995, up to when Clayton died. Check your favorite Genealogy libraries for copies.

name, or family name first, this way you can find all the articles
related to the name or place you are looking for. Copies of periodical
are at Allen County Library, Fort Wayne, IN* but not under
Clayton's name. KY Historical Society at Frankfort, KY*
*Card catalog on line
As I get the data updated, I will add an index for
each family listed above. For personal reasons and copyright issues, I
am not putting any gedcoms on this web site. |
