Daniel Dees

Daniel Dees b NC died in Jefferson Co Georgia served Rev War


Daniel Dees was born around 1740 in Edgecomb or Johnston Co, he died in Jefferson Co Ga in 1802. His wife was Elizabeth Wood. He had a number of land grants in Johnston Co NC between 1765 and 1782. He appears to have been a wealthy man.  He served in the Revolutionary War his service is in the Army Accounts of Raleigh NC Vol Vi p 52 folio I Book C p 160 cancelled vouchers #103, #2156, and #2101. Daniel is proven by the Daughters
of American Revolution.

The North Carolina Rev. Payments, Volume VI, page 52, folio 3 shows payments for Revolutionary service made to Daniel. (1) North Carolina, Newbern District, No. 2155; Daniel Dees of Johnston county is allowed the sum of two pounds five shillings for military duty, Dated December 1783. Thomas Coor, Clerk. James Coor, John Hawks, Dist. Aud. (2) Revolutionary Army Voucher No. 103. North Carolina, NewbernDistrict; Daniel Dees of Johnston County was allocated the sum of eight shillings for sundries, filed 17 October 1781. Thomas. Coor, Clerk,. James Coor, Wm. Bryan, Dist. Audrs



Daniels sons were:

Drury Dees b ca 1767 married Sally Stevens June 20 1795 in Johnston Co.
He moved to Ga with his father and served in the War of 1812 in
Conecah Al he died in Al in 1837.



Edmund Dees b ca 1765 d 1844. Edmund married Mary Whittington on Feb 16 1790
His 2nd wife Elizabeth Braswell Nov 15 1803 in Johnston Co NC. Edmund's will shows
his children.


Hillard Dees married Sally Sanith on March 20 1800, Johnston Co. He
moved with his father to Jefferson Co Ga then in 1812 he moved to
Pulaski Co Ga and died there in 1818.

Daniel Dees b 1777 in Johnston Co NC he married Nancy b 1775 and he
died in 1817 in Johnston Co.

John Dees b 1780 married Causy Taylor June 16 1807 in Jefferson Co GA
and later moved to Pulaski GA and probably later moved to Alabama.
