A  TRIBUTE TO VAUGHAN EDWARD DeMERCHANT,    3 April 1949 - 15 February 2004

                                   "Our Family Name"

Our descendant’s genealogy, Vaughan was truly successful to proclaim
He worked persistently to research our heritage and family name.
Done due diligence to organize reunions for us to enjoy and participate
He left a legacy, we share and treasure in his memory and name, to celebrate.

Our name came from our father, never shame or tear it down
It was all he had to give, so wear it like a crown.
It’s ours to use and cherish, as long as we may live
Pass this birthright to our children, that only we can give.

If we lose the watch he gave us, it can always be replaced
But, a black mark on our name son, can never be erased.
It was clean the day we took it, and a worthy name to bear
When we got it from our father, there was no dishonour there.

We shall protect our name with integrity, defend it with our life
And always be humble to help others, in their time of strife.
So may we guard it wisely, after all is said and done
We’ll be glad the name is spotless, when we give it to our son.

In lasting gratitude and revered memory of  Vaughan, gone but not forgotten. . . .
