TRANSCRIPTION OF LETTER BY

JOHN IRVINE McLEOD - 1875

Dutch Valley 16 Sept/75

To Geo Otty Esqr

Dear Sir

I suppose when you read this you will think me a great pest. I write to know if you have heard any thing about the grant of my land. I want to sell and can't untill I get the grant. I had a chance to sell last Spring but could not because I had not the grant and I have an offer now and I am going away in October. Would like to sell before I went. I have charge of a cheese factory in Dutch Valley and would go down and see you but can't leave and would trouble you to write if you would be so kind. If I sell, will be down the first of October to get some writing done and what ever your trouble is for looking after my grant shall be happy to pay you. Please answer by return mail if possible for I cannot make any agreement with the parties till I hear from you. By so doing you will confer a great favour on yours very respectfully
