Newspaper Notice of Hector McLeod's Death

From The Daily Telegraph - 14 January, 1873

(thanks to Daniel F. Johnson for the extract)

We regret to learn that Hector McLeod of Campbell's Settlement (Kings Co.) was killed Friday last at a 'chopping frolic' by a falling tree. The tree, it appears, was cut by a boy and fell in a direction quite unexpected. Two escaped unhurt, but Mr. McLeod was struck in the back of the neck and almost instantly killed. The deceased was about 50 years old and leaves a wife and family.
