The Mount
The Mount - A house of some antiquity, situated adjacent to Bown's Hill and opposite the old drapery shop and one-time post office once in the occupation of the Mr. Witham referred to in Mary Bown's Family recollections. This account also refers to The Mount being to dwelling occupied by members of the Woodhouse family. The Woodhouse's were a family of some considerable repute and importance in the history of Crich. The front wall and entrance seen in this photograph are relatively new as Bown's Hill was widened about 30 years ago, and the new wall then constructed. The entrance at that time was open, and was likely a carriage entrance.
