- CORY -- Alan L. Nees, 64, of Cory died at 9:45
p.m. Tuesday,Dec. 17, 2002, in his home. After 24 years, he
retired Sept. 30, 1988, as a senior correctional
officer from Terre Haute Federal Penitentiary and a bus
commander, logging over 1,000,000 miles.
- He was born Sept.
25, 1938, in Terre Haute, to Irvin Nees and Agnes
Modesitt Nees. His wife, Linda Knust, whom he married, Jan. 7,
1956, died July 24, 1996. Survivors include his
mother, Agnes Nees of Cory; three daughters, Kathy Booe and
her husband, Richard Booe of Brazil, Karla Runyon and her
husband, Greg Runyon of Center Point and Kim Gerber and
her husband, Mike Gerber of Cory; one son, Keith Alan Nees
and his wife, Debbie Nees of Brazil; one sister, Carolyn Knox
and her husband, Don Knox of Brazil; 10 grandchildren,
Matt Booe and his wife, Erin Booe, Katrina Clark and
her husband, Scot Clark, Justin Runyon, Jacob Dyer, Jason
Phillips and his wife, LaBreeska Phillips, Rusty Phillips,
Heather Runyon and her fiance, Ty Robbins, Zachary Alan Cochran,
Elliot Booe, and Mika Gerber; five great-grandchildren, Kourtney
Clark, Lyndee Clark and Ginny Clark, Kaylee Phillips
and Mackenzie Phillips; several nieces and nephews; and a
special friend, Sue Morlan.
- He was also preceded in death by
his father; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Emerson
"Cookie" Knust and Florence Knust; and one brother-in-law, Joe
Knust. He was a 1956 graduate of Cory High School. He was a
member of Cory Zion Church, Scottish Rite, Lodge 340 Free and
Accepted Masons, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 22
and nine-year member of the Indiana Air National Guard. He
was an avid sprint car-racing fan and loved fishing. He
enjoyed portraying Santa Claus and enjoyed his cocker spaniel,
Lady. Services are 2 p.m. Monday in Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in
Clay City, with the Rev. John Thompson officiating. Burial is
in Cory Zion Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
