THE GEORGE LACKEY FAMILY

Mr. and Mrs. George Lackey homesteaded N.E. 14, 53, 22, W of 4. They came from South Omaha, Nebraska in 1898.  They had a family of eight girls and two boys.

Sadness came early to them as Mr. Lackey died from pneumonia early in 1914. Mrs Lackey returned to her people in Ontario, taking all the family, except the eldest girl, who had a good position in Edmonton. Their land remained in the family until recently  (1971) when it was sold.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Lackey are buried in Fairmount Cemetery.
