About Ernst and Anna Dube

Ernst was the youngest of the three sons of the Widow Dube. He was only five years old when they came to America. The seven children were the main help on the farm. Ernst was the last to marry and start his own farming operations. He married Anna Urban on January 31, 1871. They lived on the Sandy and rented from Luebner and later from Andreas Urban. In 1884 he bought a farm west of Fedor where he lived the rest of his life.

Marie said this about her father: "Father got his first pair of shoes when he was Confirmed. He went to school for half a day for only six months. But father was a well-read man because he educated himself by borrowing books from Pastor Pallmer and Teacher Luebner. He spoke and read three languages: German, Wendish, and English.
