Anna Jane (Oldt) MORELL was born on Sept 14, 1869 at New Berlin,
Pennsylvania and died on July 30, 1946 at Vicksburg, Michigan. Anna
Jane is buried at the Evergreen Cemetery in Wayne County, Detroit,
Michigan with her husband Charles.
Anna Jane's family had moved by ox cart from Pennsylvania to
Mason County, Michigan by 1883. She met her future husband in Riverton
Township and married Charles MORELL on 17 Nov 1888. Charles and Anna Jane lost 5 of their 12 children. She was a small woman whose average weight was 80 lbs, and never weighed more then 110 lbs. Anna suffered from frequent headaches caused by spinal nerve damage she had as a result of a fall from a horse and buggy in 1905. Anna spent a year in Detroit ca 1921 so she could have spinal surgery at a Detroit Hospital, then returned to live in Ludington in 1922.
Charles and Anna attended church regularly; first, the Methodist
Church, and later, the Presbyterian Church. They sold their home in
Ludington in 1927 when Charles was offered a job in the Detroit area
and moved to Detroit. After Charles died in 1931, Anna lived
alternately with her children. It was while attending a Church Camp
Meeting at Indian Lake, near Kalamazoo, Michigan, that she was stricken by a stroke and was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital which was in Vicksburg, where she died. She was 76 years old.
