13. William Payne Sr. Johnson6 was born on August 31, 1781 in NC.2 He died on August 31, 1839 in Shelby Valley, Pike Co., KY..2 He was buried in LongFork, Pike Co. KY. He is reference number 3064. It has been reported that he and family then moved to a place calledPawnee Gap-(Letcher County, Ky. ?)-which was later changed to Payne Gapin his honor. He returned to Pike County, Kentucky to live out hisremaining years.

William Payne's will was one of the first wills to be probated in PikeCounty, Kentucky. He is believed to be buried on Long Fork-(Pike County).The Will is located in Book A, Page -1- and was produced in open courtduring the Janurary Term of 1840, "proved by the oaths of William Tackitt& Robert Johnson".

In her "Johnson Kinfolk", Brenda writes that "An Irish tradition ofpallbearers running to the gravesite was practiced at his funeral.

William Payne Sr. Johnson and Aley Tackett were married about 1805 in Hawkins Co. TN.. Aley Tackett2 (daughter of Phillip Sr. Tackett and Sarah ?) was born about 1780. She died in 1817. She is reference number 1435. William Payne Sr. Johnson and Aley Tackett had the following children:

William Payne Sr. Johnson and Lucy Ayers were married about 1818. Lucy Ayers2 (daughter of Ann Allen) was born about 1785 in Ireland.2 She died about 1862 in Long Fork, Virgie, Pike Co. KY.. She is reference number 76. William Payne Sr. Johnson and Lucy Ayers had the following children:
