The following obituary for Clayton W. Edgerton was published in the Syracuse Herald on Wednesday evening, March 21, 1934:

 

“Former Chief of Solvay Process Police is Dead

 

Clayton W. Edgerton, 70, former chief of police of the Solvay Process Company, member of the Exempt Firemen’s Association of Solvay, and a resident of that village more than 45 years, died last night at his home, 311 Hall Avenue, Solvay, after a lingering illness.

 

Mr. Edgerton served as police chief of the Solvay plant from 1921 to 1927 when he retired because of failing health.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lenora G. Edgerton; a son, Lester M. Edgerton, and two sisters, Mrs. Frederick Balch and Miss Bertha Edgerton, both of Utica.

 

Funeral services will be conducted privately at the home at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 P.M. and from 7 to 9 P.M. today and tomorrow.  Cody & James, funeral directors, will take the body to North Manlius for burial.”

 

The following obituary for Mrs. Lenora G. (Meyer) Edgerton was published in The Post-Standard (Syracuse, New York) on Friday, September 19, 1952:

 

“Mrs. Lenore G. Edgerton of 311 Hall ave., Solvay, died yesterday at her home.  She was a resident of Solvay 60 years and was a member of the Freeman Avenue Methodist Church.

 

Survivors are a son, Lester N. Edgerton; a brother, Lawrence Myer; and a sister, Miss Amelia Myer.  Rites will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Cody & James Funeral Home.  The Rev. N. Allen Sours will officiate.  Burial will be in North Manlius Cemetery.  Calling hours are from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.”
