Daniel Edgerton died on February 9, 1874, presumably at Willington, Connecticut.  He was buried at the South Yard Cemetery in Tolland, where his parents, grandparents and numerous other relatives were also buried.  Daniel left a Last Will and Testament, dated February 17, 1872, in which he left his estate outright to his wife “Sarah S. Edgerton”, without mentioning any of his children.  Daniel’s brother, William L. Edgerton, was named as executor of the will, which was proved at Willington, Connecticut on February 18, 1874.

Daniel’s widow, Sarah, was remarried on February 24, 1875 to his elder brother, William Lathrop Edgerton.  She was recorded together with William in the 1880 Federal Census, at which time they were residing in Willington, Tolland County, Connecticut.  William died a year later, on June 9, 1811.

Sarah S. (Starr) Edgerton died at Wethersfield, Connecticut on November 8, 1889, aged 74 years.  According to the record of her death (Wethersfield VR 6:498), she was a widow, aged 77 years [sic], and had been born in Webster, Massachusetts [sic?], the daughter of Darius Starr.  Her residence was listed as Wethersfield, and the cause of death was given as “Plurisy & Heart failure”.   Sarah was buried beside her first husband at the South Yard Cemetery in Tolland, Connecticut.  Her gravestone there records her as “Sarah S. Starr, wife of Daniel Edgerton”.
