The following obituary for Mrs. Eliza Amelia (Edgerton) Ball was published in The Brookfield Courier on Wednesday, April 5, 1911:

“Mrs. Eliza Edgerton Ball.

After four months of suffering from asthma and complications the angels came at midnight, March 30th, bearing the wearied spirit where there are beckoning hands to the arms of the Master whom she served.  Mrs. Ball was born in Sangerfield Nov. 3, 1826.  She was one of a family of eleven children of Guy and Esther Edgerton being of ancestral lineage both her grandfathers having served in the Revolutionary war.  She was early baptized into the Congregational church, a consistent Christian loyal to all good and charitable work, a zealous member of the King’s Daughters’ circle, true and faithful to her home making it a haven for her family by whom she will be sadly missed.  Oct 12th, 1844, she was married to Silas M. Ball.  They settled their home in this village his death occurring in 1890.  She was tenderly cared for during her last illness by loving hearts and willing hands.  Those remaining to mourn their loss are a step-son, Charles Ball; three daughters, Mrs. C. D. Nash, Mrs. S. W. Bentley, Mrs. O. W. Burhyte; one grandson, George H. Jackson; one brother, Earl Edgerton; one sister, Mrs, Ann Norton.  The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Sunday, April 2nd, Rev. A. E. Darling officiating, paying a fine tribute to her memory.  Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Burdick sang some beautiful selections. She was laid at rest beside her husband in the cemetery at Sweet's Corners.”
