Eliza Ann Edgerton was born in Tolland, Connecticut on September 3, 1807.  She was the only daughter of Reuben Edgerton and Ann Lathrop.  Eliza was a spinster and resided in Tolland her entire life.

 

Late in life, Eliza went to live with her younger brother, Lucius Edgerton, in Tolland.  On May 29, 1879, she wrote a Last Will and Testament, leaving her entire estate to Lucius, on the condition that he provide her with a “good and comfortable support during the rest of my natural life, shall give me a decent Christian burial at my decease, and shall erect suitable gravestones to my memory.”  The will was witnessed by Eliza’s brother, William L. Edgerton, and sister-in-law, Sarah S. Edgerton.

 

Eliza Ann Edgerton died at Tolland, Connecticut on June 8, 1879.  According to the record of her death (Tolland VR 6:480), she was single, aged 71 years, 9 months, 5 days, and was born in Tolland, Connecticut.  Her occupation was listed as “housework” and the cause of death was given as “cancer”.  Eliza was buried in the family plot at South Yard Cemetery in Tolland.
