We are greatly indebted to Judy Josephson Schreiber, who was has provided the foregoing information on the family of Philip Helmer Cady and Fannie Edgerton, as well as additional data on various other members of the Cady family who intermarried with the Edgertons (eg. Philip’s younger sister, Jane, who married Fannie’s brother, Lorin Edgerton, and Philip’s nephew, George Nelson Cady, who married Fannie’s niece, Charity Eliza Edgerton).

Fannie Edgerton was married at Florence, New York on March 24, 1819 to Philip Helmer Cady, son of Charles and Jane (Helmer) Cady, who had come to Oneida County from Montgomery County, New York (just a short distance to the east).  Fannie and Philip had only one son, Wilford, who was born January 2, 1820 and died April 17, 1823.  Fannie Edgerton died later the same year (December 10, 1823) of “milksick” (ie. tuberculosis).  She and her son were buried at the Florence Hill Cemetery in Florence, New York.  According to the age listed on her gravestone (24 years, 8 months and 20 days), Fannie was born March 21, 1799, presumably at Torringford, Connecticut where her parents then resided.

Fannie’s husband, Philip H. Cady, was later remarried to Mary Rice and removed to the town of Hector in Schuyler County, New York.  Philip, his second wife and his mother were each buried at the Eldred Cemetery in the town of Hector.
