According to the above census record, Josephine was the mother of seven children, five of whom were still living.  George’s occupation was listed as “farmer – fruit farmer”.  The family was residing at 608 East Buffalo Street.

 

The following obituary for Mrs. Josephine (Chase) Edgerton was published in The Penn Yan Democrat on Friday, March 2, 1917:

 

“EDGERTON – In Ithaca, February 21, 1917, Mrs. George I. Edgerton.  Burial in Rock Stream, her former home.  She leaves her husband and four children.”

 

The following obituary for George Ingham Edgerton was published in The Hilton Record on Thursday, March 24, 1932:

 

“FORMER PARMA RESIDENT DIES IN FLORIDA

 

Word has been received of the death in a hospital at Miami, Fla., on March 14th of George I. Edgerton, 84 years of age.

 

Mr. Edgerton, who was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Anna C. Burritt and Darwin Chase, formerly lived on the Parma-Greece Town Line Road, near the Christian Church.  He has resided in Coral Gables, Florida, during the past few years.

 

The remains will be brought in April to Rock Stream, N.Y., near Watkins Glen, for interment.”
